A lifetime resident of NJ
transitions back into the fine arts
Meet James, a true Jersey native who's weaving his way back into the world of fine arts after a successful stint as a Creative Director in advertising. With roots at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where he majored in illustration, James is now an active member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), The National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS) and The American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA).
His works include broad spectrum of subjects including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, animals, and still life. His classical style has transitioned from acrylics in his early works to exclusively painting in oils in recent years creating a diverse and rich portfolio. Additionally his newest interest is in wood carving both fresh and saltwater fish, shown on this site.
And there's more! James is actively working on commissions creating Wedding, Family and pet portraits. You can reach out to him at Crispo.Gallery@gmail.com or through the CONTACT link above for pricing and availability, whether you're interested in originals or certified giclee prints on canvas or archival museum-grade paper.
But James's story goes beyond his recent artistic pursuits. Back in the day, he made waves with commissioned pieces that found homes at Johnson & Johnson Corporate Headquarters, Public Service Gas & Electric, and in the hands of private collectors. Not to mention his three impressive commissions for Ethicon Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, including a boardroom masterpiece titled "Corporate Brainstorming" and a stunning stainless steel sculpture called "The Beginnings." Family took center stage for a while, leading James to shift gears into a full-time gig as a Creative Director in advertising. Yet, the call of art remained strong, and today, he's not just creating but also passing on his knowledge through painting classes. You can catch some of his current works at the Main Ave Galleria in Ocean Grove NJ, M.T. Burton Gallery in Surf City, NJ, and the LBI Foundation of Art in Loveladies, NJ. (typically during the plein air events). Plus, he's a regular at local NJ Coastal art shows and competitions continuing to share his artistic flair with the local communities.
